Message from Chief Joseph Wirthman:

We will be meeting at the City of Jefferson multi purpose room located at 1010 Washington Street. Executive level training will be provided starting at approx. 9:30 am. For those early who come early coffee will be provided. After the training lunch will be served by Stonewall’s Barbecue. I need an RSVP to jwirthman@cityofjeffersonga.com  for those attending to get an approx. head count for the meal. Looking forward to fellowship with everyone as we kick off the holiday season.

Chief Peer Support Workshop @ Conference Bay A - GPSTC

GACP is hosting an 8-hour executive level Chief Peer Support Workshop at the GA Public Safety Training Center on November 26, 2019. This training will give an overview of peer support for chiefs and command staff at agencies throughout the state, especially smaller agencies with limited resources.

This training is in support of the initiatives set forth by previous GACP president, Chief Joe Wirthman, and current GACP president, Chief Wesley Walker, to create a chief and command staff response group to assist agencies during difficult emergency situations and critical incidents. Please note, this group is not intended to compete with the peer support group that was organized by the State of Georgia.

*This training is for chiefs and command staff who want to be a team member and will commit to participation in the group. It is not a standard general-information executive training.

District 6 Meeting @ Georgia Ports Authority Police Department

Chief Kevin R. Doyle invites law enforcement executives to attend training on December 12, 2019. The Georgia Ports Authority Police Department will host training titled, Gangs and Organized Crime. This training is designed for law enforcement Chief Executives and for senior officials who routinely encounter, or are tasked to address, gang activities. Executives will explore a broad array of issues involving gangs in the State of Georgia. Topics will include gang identification, community threat and impacts, statewide initiatives, and counter-gang strategies.

This training is delivered in partnership with the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC). The guest instructor will be Mr. Jose Ramirez, GPSTC. Instructor Ramirez is the Vice President of the Georgia Gang Investigator Association (GGIA).

GACP Approved for 3 executive credit hours

District 1 Meeting @ Old Times Country Buffet

The District 1 training will be held Tuesday, December 17 at Ole Times Country Buffet 1193 St Augustine Rd, Valdosta, GA 31601. Plan on being there a little before 12 noon to avoid the lunch crowd. This is a dutch treat – the meal is $6.00 drink included. There will be 2 hours of executive training provided at this meeting.

District 9 Meeting @ Snellville Police Department

The Snellville Police Department will host the 9th District Meeting on December 18th.  Breakfast will begin serving at 9 a.m. with the training set to start at 10:00 a.m. Parking will be available in the lot inside the raised arms, in the parallel spaces along Clower Street and the parallel spaces along the entrance to city hall off Clower Street.  There is also a parking lot across Clower from the police department and if dry, parking on the grass field across from the police department.  There will also be parking in the city hall lot; but court will be in session, so please park to the rear of the lot.  Training will be provided by ASAC Rocky Bingham of the G.B.I. on officer involved shootings.  There is no need to RSVP.
