The Parkland Massacre Through a Police Chief’s Eyes @ Monroe County Fine Arts Center

On February 14, 2018, a former student entered Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, killed 17 innocent people and injured another 17 students. Chief Tony Pustizzi (retired), a 30-year veteran with the Coral Springs Police Department, along with members of his agency arrived at the school within minutes. A complex law enforcement approach, including stopping the shooter and extracting the victims from within the school, was initiated. He will discuss many of the issues that ensued in communication and leadership that he observed that day and the unique challenges he experienced from his perspective.

This course will be held on 5 separate dates:

District 1 Meeting @ Leroy Rogers Center

The City of Douglas and City of Tifton Police Departments will co-host the District One monthly Chiefs’ Meeting on Thursday, August 25, 2022, starting at 1030 hours. The meeting will be held at the Leroy Rogers Center, located at 315 West 2nd. Street, Tifton, GA 31794. Coffee Schools Police Chief Chris Elrod will present information on school safety and ​discuss some preliminary plans for procedural changes after the Uvalde, Texas school shooting. Please RSVP Chief Shane Edmisten via text at 912-331-8433, for an accurate head count for the meal. We will also be honoring Chief Chuck Edward as he heads into retirement at the end of this month.

This meeting will be offered for 2 hours executive credit.
