On Wednesday, March 24th the 8th District Chiefs Training will be held at the Carrollton Police Department from 11 AM – 1 PM. The topic is Using DNA Testing to Solve Cold Cases. The presenters are Theresa Schiefer and Amy Hutsell. Theresa is a Senior Assistant District Attorney with the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office where she has been a felony prosecutor since 2013. Theresa is currently assigned as the Cobb County prosecutor to the Georgia Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (GASAKI), a federally funded taskforce created to coordinate community response to cold case sexual assaults and sexually motivated homicides. Amy is the Program Director for the Sexual Assault, Child Abuse and Human Trafficking Unit with Georgia’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. She and her team have written grants that have resulted in over $10,000,000 in federal assistance. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP jrichards@carrollton-ga.gov with a number of attendees.
