Summary Statement:
This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.
Essential Duties:
- Oversees the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program including supporting all certification managers.
- Performs marketing activities to recruit agencies to participate in the certification program to include working with GACP staff to send broadcasts regarding the program’s benefits and agency achievements through social media.
- Establishes and maintains accurate records on certified agencies, to include anniversary deadlines for certification/recertification, follow-up reviews, and special awards (i.e. Silver, Gold).
- Maintains detailed files on certified agencies and those in the process of being certified. Notifies agencies of annual compliance report requirements, tracks recertification dates, and ensures certified agencies are taking the required actions to maintain compliance with all applicable standards.
- Maintains accurate, up-to-date information of state certification managers, assessors, assessor shadows, and team leaders.
- Ensures agency fees are paid to GACP within the established deadlines.
- Schedules and coordinates team leaders and assessors to conduct on-site assessments.
- Coordinates with State Certification Committee (SCC) and Joint Review Committee (JRC) Chairs to schedule regular meetings.
- Works with SCC and JRC as well as others to establish guidelines to ensure consistent assessment of compliance with state certification standards.
- Creates and maintains SCC and JRC meeting minutes.
- Processes waiver requests and submits for appropriate review and action to the State Certification Committee and provides notice to requesting agencies of final decision.
- Coordinates/works with training/event staff to provide GA POST training related to the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.
- Reviews reports from team leaders to ensure they are complete, accurate, and sent to the state certification committee members for review in a timely manner.
- Coordinates regular manager, assessor, and team leader training, follow-up training for new managers, and familiarization training for chiefs
- Schedules, oversees, and makes ‘spot visits’ of on-site assessments.
- Prepares awards for presentation to agencies successfully achieving certification, recertification, or special recognition.
- Periodically reviews state certification standards and processes to identify areas requiring update and/or improvement as well as prepare recommendations to committees for discussion, review, and approval.
- Conducts analysis of data and produces reports using the findings.
- Participates in/on a variety of meetings, professional organizations, committees, and other related groups.
- Assists other GACP staff and members with other assignments and programs as needed.
Training and Experience:
High School Diploma required, and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business, Public Administration, or related field preferred; and four years of experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
License Required:
Certification Manager and Assessor classes required;
Valid Class C Driver’s License required;
POST instructor certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Typically requires: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Must be able to travel within the state regularly and out of state on a limited basis.
