The CITY OF NAHUNTA is now accepting applications for Full-Time Chief of Police.
We are looking for an experienced police officer with strong integrity and problem-solving skills to join our growing community. Under limited supervision, the incumbent in this position will perform a variety functions including, but not limited to:
- Coordinate schedules and activities for full and part-time officers
- Respond to emergency calls and situations
- Enforce traffic laws, manage traffic accidents, and establish roadblocks and reroutes
- Investigate accidents, crimes, and violations of state/federal laws
- Prepare and maintain reports, records, and logs
- Appear in court to give testimony
- Assist citizens in a variety of ways (providing directions, roadside assistance, etc.)
- Arrest and transport individuals to detention facilities
- Perform required booking procedures
- Participate in community activities, special events, and special police programs
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local law regulations.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age at time of employment and hold a valid driver’s license
- Currently possess Certification with state criminal justice and training standards
- Licensed and qualified to operate firearms Excellent communication skills, including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Must have open availability and be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
