For Georgia law enforcement leaders, providing officers with relevant, high-quality training is essential, but meeting the needs of an entire agency across schedules, assignments, and training priorities can be challenging. The COPS Training Portal, the free online learning platform funded by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services and run by the National Center for Policing Innovation (NCPI), helps agencies expand access to GA POST-approved training while giving officers the flexibility to learn when and where it works best for them.
Every certificate-issuing course in the COPS Training Portal catalog is eligible for in-service credit through the GA POST, with select courses also qualifying for Governor’s Initiative credit in Community Policing and De-escalation. Each month, as Georgia law enforcement officers complete courses, NCPI submits those completions directly to the GA POST so you don’t have to, helping officers receive applicable credit while completing training online and on their own schedules.
The COPS Training Portal’s value also extends beyond individual learners. Law enforcement leaders can request access to free agency-wide training management services and tools to: streamline account creations and enrollment, manage users, monitor training progress and assessment scores, run reports, and customize learning paths aligned with agency needs.
Always free and available 24/7, the COPS Training Portal’s catalog of on-demand, online training courses and resources cover topics that reflect the responsibilities and challenges facing today’s public safety professionals throughout Georgia and beyond. Training areas include community policing, de-escalation and crisis response, traffic safety and impaired driving enforcement, leadership, school and campus safety, officer safety and wellness, and more.
For Georgia chiefs and agency leaders, the COPS Training Portal offers more than a catalog of online courses. It provides a resource to support individual professional development, strengthen agency-wide training strategies, and make high-quality training more accessible across an organization.
Georgia law enforcement professionals and agencies can explore the COPS Training Portal, browse available training, and learn more about free agency services at copstrainingportal.org.
