CITY OF AMERICUS, GEORGIA POLICE CHIEF

The City of Americus is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to serve as Police Chief. The Police Chief provides leadership and direction for the Americus Police Department and is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing departmental operations while ensuring effective law enforcement services to the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Police Chief provides leadership and oversight of Police Department operations, including:

• Directing and evaluating departmental operations and
• Developing and implementing policies and
• Ensuring the enforcement of laws and ordinances and maintaining public safety.
• Coordinating officer training, assignments, and professional
• Preparing and managing the Department's annual
• Working with elected officials, City leadership, other law enforcement agencies, community organizations, businesses, and the public.
• Reviewing departmental performance and developing programs to address operational needs.
• Maintaining departmental discipline and addressing employee grievances and personnel matters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a closely related field.

Experience: Ten (10) years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including six (6) years in a supervisory role or closely related experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION

• Valid Georgia POST
