Executive Director’s Message- Fall 2025
A.A. Butch Ayers
GACP Executive Director
I hope everyone enjoyed the Fall Training Conference. The weather was fantastic! It was very pleasant to be outdoors when compared to the oppressive heat, humidity and mosquitoes in July. With the election of 4th Vice President Harry Hess, re-election of Chairman of the District Representatives Chief Mike Persley, and the appointment of Immediate Past President Chief Janet Moon, the new Executive Board was installed on September 17th. We also presented the Officer, Supervisor, and Chief of the Year Awards. Congratulations to Detective Samuel Derr (Georgia Southern University), Sergeant Dan Oak (DeKalb County Police Department), and Public Safety Director John Robison (Alpharetta Department of Public Safety).
Several state legislators attended portions of the conference. There was a very informative discussion during the Legislative Committee meeting on September 15th. We will continue to enhance our legislative influence, and I encourage all members to reach out to their local state senator and representative.
The new building project is going well, and we expect to move into the 15,000 square foot building in late November. We are planning to have a “ribbon-cutting” in December. As the details are worked out, we will send out a broadcast.
In closing, I want to personally thank each member that attended the conference. Without your continued interest, attendance, and support for our conferences, we would not be able to offer the quality and variety of training that you have come to expect.
